Foodaholics, don't store fat!!

Fast food culture and lack of hygienic food habits can lead to accumulation of fat in our body. If this is not properly taken care of, might lead to serious problems when you grow old.

Having read lot of articles related to ancient Indian Ayurveda, i came up with some amazing food habits that can completely change our physical personality and make us feel a lot lighter.
We just need to change a little of our daily lifestyle, especially daily diet intake and related habits.
Our Food can treat all our health problems.
1. Water-Therapy: Do not under-estimate this Water Therapy. The water we take daily not just helps in digesting the food we eat and eliminating wastes but as well maintains the P-H of our body.

Every morning when you wake up, drink 2-3 litres of warm water (not cold at least) before brushing your teeth. When ever you drink water, drink sip by sip in mouthfuls to make sure that the saliva that secretes all night gets into your body. This helps a great deal in food digestion and body regulation.

After you eat something, avoid cold drinks, drink something warm or hot drinks that will help in the digestion of fat food content, thereby avoiding fat accumulation.

2. Triphala:
Triphala is one of the most powerful medicines of ayurveda, a combination of three Amla, Bihara and Harada dry fruits. Helps in body cleansing and reducing cholesterol.

A small spoon full of Triphala churna is to be taken with milk or honey in the morning, half an hour before break fast.

You can actually get those dry fruits and prepare it yourself, to make sure the combination ratio if perfect and is freshly prepared. Amla, Bihara and Harada dry fruits in the ratio of 3:2:1 have to be churned to powder and stored in a glass bottle.

We can use Triphala continuously for 3 months, after which a gap of 15 days is recommended.

3. Salads: For fat loss, Gaajar (carrot), Kaddhu (pumpkin) and Apple salads are very effective, especially when taken in the morning. Make them a part of your regular diet as and when possible.

4. Sugars:
The sugars we take daily in various forms are not easily digestible and therefore add to our body fat. So instead of regular sugar intake, replace it with Jaggery (original one, dark color) and Honey in our daily foods.

5. Chocolates: Since most of us cant avoid chocolates, instead store some chocolates made of Til (sesame seeds/oil) and Jaggery at home. Chikki is one such. You can in fact eat them daily, will help in burning the excess fat.

So, little change in your food habits, can make you feel lot more fit and fine, both on Body and Mind.

Stay fit, work fine and keep dancing to the tunes of Life!! (:

Boost your Immune system Naturally

Not many of us really know what exactly our Immune system compries of.
It is made up of special cells, proteins, tissues and organs wherein the White blood cells are the major fighting cells of the immune system.
Whenever any foreign substance like a bacteria or a virus enters your body then it is the natural immune system that finds this pathogen, destroys it and removes it completely from your body.
But the Irony in present day is that the human body immunity levels have come down terribly owing to Modern fast culture and Unhygienic diets. People look for temporary remedies in health disorders rather than developing their Body immunity naturally that will protect then in long run.The solution here is...boosting your immune system naturally.

  • Maintain clean and Hygienic atmosphere.
  • Eat nutritious foods, especially those high in vitamin C, Magnesium, Zinc, Potassium, and Calcium like Whole grains.
  • Avoid excessive exposure to sun, pollutants and toxic chemicals.
  • Keep your Back and spine healthy and well aligned if possible with regular workouts.

Few natural immune system boosters...
  • Just like "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away" , "A single bulb of garlic a day, keep diseases away". Garlic is an excellent source that exhibits antioxidant, immune-supporting and circulatory-supporting action. It is the best natural immune support, so do include it in your daily diet.
  • Lemons, papaya, and pineapple are excellent for changing the pH environment in the mouth, throat, and digestive system that help kill and prevent further growth of bacteria and viruses. So make it an habit of having atleast one of them.
Do build up a good immune system naturally that will make keep you strong in the long run.

Women's Fitness

Resistance Training certainly Improves women's fitness and over all health.

Research shows many significant advantages of mass training for women's fitness, but surprisingly the number of women who plan to undertake over to the strength segment is quite less.

The energy demands from a Woman Most of the woman today are working and are very much health conscious. They spend time on aerobics' classes and cardio machines but they hardly work on strength segment which is quite crucial to handle the excessive day to day responsibilities.

Below are some important reasons for women to improve upon their Resistance Training

1) Effective Bone Development : we generally hear women who cant really get up and recover soon whenever they meet with some kind of accident. As women start becoming older their bones become fragile as the calcium deposition in the bone decrease due to inability of the body to absorb the surplus calcium present in the body.
The final consequence is a situation known as osteoporosis.

* Weight Training combats this by exciting the bones to absorb surplus calcium and other bone
building minerals like the potassium.

2) Improving Injury prevention : Several injuries can be overcome and avoided by standard strength training exercises that make your body Fit and strong .

3) Easy and Quick Fat loss : Not many realize that weight training can actually assist you in losing your weight, specially the abdominal fat.The cardio vascular exercises reduce additional calories while one is doing it and the weight training reduces extra calories after you leave the gym.

To conclude, the key to woman's fitness is healthy eating, weight work out and Cardio Vascular

Anti Aging Skin Care

You can’t reverse a freight train until you first stop it. Once you start protecting your skin you can reverse the damage that’s occurred.
Below are the most important things one should follow to have a young healthy and glowing skin for years.

1) Sunscreen Skin Care

The single thing that ages the skin more than anything else is the ultraviolet light, which damages DNA and breaks down collagen(the skin’s essential support structure). So always protect your skin from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Use sunscreen every day and wear sunglasses and a broad-brimmed hat whenever possible.

2) Use good Skin Care Moisturizer rich in Antioxidants

Antioxidants really prevent aging by quenching free radicals, but they also decrease inflammation that can lead to wrinkles. Therefore using a cream, serum or a lotion that contains antioxidants like vitamin C, green tea extract or ferulic acid can make your skin healthier. These antioxidants can block damage from any UV light that gets through your sunscreen.

3) Facial Skin Care - Repair Dead Cells

a) Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week with a facial wash, scrub or peel that contains glycolic or lactic acid which helps in removing dead cells from the skin’s surface and allows new ones to emerge. It gives the skin a smoother surface that reflects light better and looks more radiant.

b) Most common signs of aging are fine lines, blotchy discoloration and enlarged pores.
Retinoids, derived from vitamin A really work on repairing your skin and also promote the production of collagen and help the skin make more elastin, thereby making the skin look younger and fresher.Retinoids are available by prescription.

4) Healthy Diet Plan for your Skin

To make your skin healthier and more youthful, maintain a healthy diet plan.
Omega-3 fatty acids can decrease inflammation in the skin which generally leads to loss of collagen and elastin, which, in turn, causes wrinkles and sagging of the skin.
Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish, walnuts, canola oil, flax and their supplements.

5) Sleep Better

It’s during sleep when your metabolic rate is decreased and that the body initiates the repair process.
For your face’s sake, it’s best to sleep on your back.If you sleep on your face, your facial skin will age more rapidly. So roll over if you’re a belly or a side-sleeper.
Always have a good sound sleep so that you look fresh everyday in the morning.

" Tulsi can help keep swine flu away " - Ayurvedic experts

Lucknow, May 27: Wonder herb Tulsi can not only keep the dreaded swine flu at bay but also help in fast recovery of an afflicted person, Ayurvedic practitioners claim.

"The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently. Tulsi improves the body's overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu," Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says.

Apart from acting as a preventive medicine in case of swine flu, Tulsi can help the patient recover faster.

"Even when a person has already contracted swine flu, Tulsi can help in speeding up the recovery process and also help in strengthening the immune system of the body," he claims.

Dr Bhupesh Patel, a lecturer at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar is also of the view that Tulsi can play an important role in controlling swine flu.

"Tulsi can control swine flu and it should be taken in fresh form. Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach."

This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu.

Alcohol addiction Treatment

The Alcohol addiction rehab program is considered to be one of the most effective methods of alcohol addiction treatment. This program is meant for people who are in moderate to severe kinds of alcohol addiction.
The program is designed in such a way that it helps people
with all kinds of requirements and choices.
The alcohol addiction treatment program in a rehab center usually has
three main steps. These three steps are the intervention, the detoxification and the aftercare.

1) Alcohol Rehab Intervention
Intervention is an important part of the alcohol addiction treatment. The treatment providers at the alcohol rehab center will motivate the patient to get out of their denial. They might take the help of the family and friends of the patient in this regard.
The basic route employed for this will be to educate the patient on the repercussions of being in the addiction. They will be told how their addiction will affect their personal life, their family life, their social life and their professional life.

2) Alcohol Rehab Detoxification
The next phase of the treatment in the rehab center is the detoxification. This is implemented as soon as the person is ready to go through the treatment and after analyzing the condition of the patient and making sure that they can go through the treatment.
The
main purpose of the detoxification in the alcohol addiction treatment process is to remove all traces of alcohol from the body of the person.
Medications are provided during the alcohol rehab treatment. These medications have a dual purpose. One, to lessen the urge that the person may have for alcohol, which makes it easier for them to abstain and two, to keep the patient away from the severe pangs of withdrawal that the substance might cause.

3) Alcohol Rehab Aftercare
Once the patient has been out of the withdrawal of the detox treatment process, they are put into an elaborate aftercare program.
The main intention of this program is to bring the person completely out of the craving for using the substance.
This is done through education and counseling. The patient is taught certain techniques that can help keep them from getting cravings for the substance, such as relaxation and meditation therapies.
The patient's family is also counseled on monitoring the condition of the patient when they are back home. There are usually three-day counseling programs especially directed at the families of the patients.
And lastly they are also trained to read the signs and signals of an impending relapse of alcohol addiction and what they must do if it occurs.

Drug And Alcohol Addiction

When a person takes things like alcohol or drugs, these substances alter the chemical composition of the brain. These alcoholic drugs release endorphins, that are pleasure causing agents. As a result the person loses all his inhibitions and feels "high".
Addiction has grown to be a disease of major concern for almost everyone now.once the person is used to alcohol or drugs..the focus is on just a single thing, the next high or rush. He spends all his energy in getting the drug or the alcohol and nothing else matters to him....thereby spoiling his life.

The reasons for addiction could be either

* Genetic,
* Low self esteem or
* Emotional Factors of ones Life.

The Effects of addiction can be...

1) Physical Health Effects : Excessive alcohol consumption may lead to cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis, epilepsy, polyneuropathy, alcoholic dementia, heart disease, increased chance of cancer, nutritional deficiencies, sexual dysfunction, and death from many sources.

2) Mental Health Effects : Alcohol misuse is not only toxic to the body but also to brain function and thus psychological well being can be adversely affected by the long-term effects of alcohol misuse.
Psychiatric disorders are common in alcoholics, especially anxiety and depression disorders.

3) Social effects : Being drunk or hung over during work hours can result in loss of employment, which can lead to financial problems.
Drinking at inappropriate times, and behavior caused by reduced judgment, can lead to legal consequences, such as criminal charges for drunk driving or public disorder, or civil penalties for tortuous behavior.
An alcoholic's behavior and mental impairment while drunk can profoundly impact surrounding family and friends, possibly leading to marital conflict and divorce, or contributing to domestic violence.
This can also contribute to lasting damage to the emotional development of the alcoholic's children, even after they reach adulthood.

Therefore alcohol addiction has to be seriously dealt with and not neglected.

Medical Surgery

Surgery is a medical procedure that may involve the removal of a diseased tissue, repair of the damaged tissue, or examination of the tissue to determine the type of disease.
The scope of surgery has increased remarkably in this century. Its safety has increased too.Operations are now being carried out that were not even dreamed of fifty years ago. Many developments in modern surgery are almost incredible.Today..

* The heart can be safely opened and its valves repaired. Clogged blood vessels can be cleaned out, and broken ones mended or replaced.

* A lung, the whole stomach, or even part of the brain can be removed and still permit the patient to live a comfortable and satisfactory life.

* The replacement of damaged blood vessels with simulated ones made of plastic; the replacement of heart valves with plastic substitutes; the transplanting of tissues such as the lens of the eye; the invention of the artificial kidney to clean the blood of poisons at regular intervals and the development of heart and lung machines to keep patients alive during very long operations all are quite easily possible today.

* Another revolution in surgery science is organ transplantation. Until a few years ago, no person, except an identical twin, was able to accept into his body the tissues of another person without reacting against them and eventually killing them. Recently, however, it has been discovered that with the use of x-rays and special drugs, it is possible to graft tissues from one person to another which will survive for periods of a year or more.
Kidneys have been successfully transplanted between non-identical twins. Heart and lung transplants have been reasonably successful in animals, though rejection problems in humans have yet to be solved.

All these things open a hopeful vista for a great future of surgical Science.

Orthomolecular Medicine -Alternative Treatment

Alternative treatment for any disease is always valued especially when it is concerned with natural supplements of the deficient nutrients.

Megavitamin therapy also called Orthomolecular medicine is one such form of complementary and alternative medicine that seeks to prevent or treat diseases with nutrients prescribed as dietary supplements or derived from diets.

Orthomolecular medicine means therapy with the right molecules.

Orthomolecular medicine focuses on what it sees as the right nutritional molecules in the right amounts for the individual.

It often recommends megavitamin doses much larger than those considered medically necessary.

In general, the vitamin megadoses advocated by orthomolecular medicine are unsupported by scientific consensus.

Megadose therapy is a practice particularly common among cancer patients.

Swine Flu Hits India

A serious matter of concern...India is also being hit by this deadly Swine Flu disease.

A 20-year-old man, who was tested positive for influenza A (H1N1) earlier this week, has transmitted the virus to his brother and a four-and-a-half year old girl travelling with him on the same plane - taking the total number of swine flu cases reported to seven.

Shiv Lal, head of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, said "The youth had returned to India from the US via London on May 30. He got down at the Hyderabad airport and went straight home. It is now confirmed that he transmitted the virus to his brother and a young girl who was travelling with him in the same flight,"

"This takes the total to seven influenza A (H1N1) infections in India," he added.

Lal said the three people are being monitored in hospitals in Hyderabad.

After his case came to light, authorities swung into action and tried to trace the others who had come into contact with him. It was reported that his brother was also showing the same symptoms and was tested for the infection.

"He tested positive. Among the passengers near him was a four-and-a-half-year-old girl. She was sitting with her mother on the next row. When she was tested, she was found positive," he added.

"Samples of her mother was also sent for testing and were found negative. But we are doing a repeat test," Lal added. The repeated test also shows that the mother is also being infected by the disease.

India reported its first swine flu infection May 16 - a 23-year-old man who travelled by Emirates Airline from New York to Hyderabad via Dubai.

"A team of NICD officials is on its way to Hyderabad along with a multi-disciplinary rapid response team," he said.

The infected have been put on Oseltamivir, the anti-flu drug which is very effective against the H1N1 virus. the official said.

Health screening of passengers coming from the affected countries is continuing at 21 international airports and about 1.3 million passengers have been screened so far.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported about 21,940 confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection from 69 countries and 125 deaths till June 5.

Swine Flu - H1N1 influenza virus

Swine influenza (also called swine flu, pigfluenza, hog flu, and pig flu) refers to influenza caused by those strains of influenza virus that usually infect pigs and are called swine influenza virus (SIV).Swine influenza is common in pigs in the midwestern United States, Mexico, Canada, South America, Europe (including the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy), Kenya, Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and other parts of eastern Asia.

The 2009 Flu outbreak in humans that is widely known as "Swine Flu" is due to an apparently virulent new strain of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 that is supposed to be derived from one strain of human influenza virus, one strain of avian influenza virus, and two separate strains of swine influenza. The origin of this new strain is unknown, and the World Organization for Animal Health reports that this strain has not been isolated in pigs.It passes with apparent ease from human to human, an ability attributed to an as-yet unidentified mutation.

Symptoms : In humans, the symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.

The time and location of the outbreak is still unknown, but was first detected when flu cases were reported by officials in Mexico. Within days, hundreds more suspected cases were discovered in Mexico, with cases also showing up in the U.S. and several other countries like Spain, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Israel and even parts of Asia like Hongkong and Southkorea.
On April 28, 2009, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the first official US death of swine flu. Tests confirmed that a 23-month old toddler from Mexico, who was probably infected there, died from the flu while visiting Texas.

As the swine influenza A H1N1 virus is a new virus, no swine flu vaccine is available to prevent infections. Experts are already working on a swine flu vaccine though. It is estimated that the swine flu vaccine won't be ready until sometime around September to November 2009.

Improve your Lifespan

Just follow these simple Tips in your life which will significantly improve your Lifespan...

1. Good Healthy Breakfast

Typical Breakfast should include carbohydrates, protein, and a small amount of fat. As no single food gives us all of the nutrients we need, eating a variety of foods is essential to good health.

2. Add Fish and Omega-3 Fatty Acids to Your Diet

For a good health a serving of fish two times per week is recommended.
Besides being a good source of protein and a food relatively low in the bad type of dietary fat called saturated fat, fish has omega-3 fatty acids which have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease.

3. Have Enough Sleep

Sleep is vital to good health and to mental and emotional well-being.
