Acne Treatments that Work !!

Acne is a very common skin disease Today that is characterized by pimples on the face, chest, and back.
This generally occurs when the pores of the skin become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria.
Acne Skin care if therefore quite important .
Virtually almost every case of acne can be resolved. The kind of Acne treatment depends on the exact condition of the person and the stage of acne i.e Mild Acne, Moderate to Moderately Severe Acne or Severe Acne.

Mild Acne :

Characteristics: Small lesions, such as blackheads, whiteheads or pustules, which appear at or near the surface of the skin.

Acne Treatment:

Gently wash the affected area(s) with warm water and a mild soap twice a day to remove dead skin cells and excess oil
Use a topical (applied to the skin) over-the-counter acne treatment containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid

Moderate to Moderately Severe Acne :

Characteristics: Numerous whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules appear that cover from ¼ to ¾ th of the face and/or other affected area(s).

Acne Treatment:

This usually requires the help of a dermatologist and combination therapy (using two or more treatment options).
Prescription Medications
Topical (applied to the skin) antimicrobials
Topical retinoids, Oral antibiotics or Oral contraceptives
Over-the-counter topical acne medications or
Sometimes Physical Treatment methods, such as comedo extraction or light therapy that need to be done by a professional dermatologist.

Severe Acne :

Characteristics: Deep cysts, inflammation, extensive damage to the skin and scarring.

Acne Treatment:

This requires an aggressive treatment regimen and should be treated carefully by a dermatologist. This might take some years sometimes. Dermatologists generally use the following methods to treat severe acne
Oral antibiotics
Oral contraceptives
Interlesional corticosteroid injection and if needed
Drainage and surgical excision.
